The Wall
Interactive Installation
Inspired by the theme of letting go “Let It Go – Video Series” The Wall is a participatory photo installation that transforms a real wall from the Fes medina into a space for collective reflection and expression.
It all begins with a photograph of an actual wall, where someone had once written:
“ممنوع الازبال و البول و شكراً”
“No dumping trash or urinating. Thank you.”
A necessary and pragmatic message — a call to care for shared space and uphold respect for the public realm.
But what if this wall could say something else?
What if, instead of prohibiting, it invited?
In a second image, the message has been gently transformed:
“Please leave your heavy thoughts here.”
With this shift, the wall becomes a symbolic space — a quiet site of emotional release. A place to reflect, to let go, and to reimagine our connection with the city and with ourselves.
Interaction: next to the two images, visitors were invited to write and post their own thoughts, heavy memories, or emotional burdens using transparent post-its. The wall gradually transformed into a living palimpsest—layered with handwritten fragments, collective voices, and quiet releases.
